Pastor Doug's main points:

  1. Disruptions often inhibit our ability to clearly discern God's leading in our lives.
  2. Disruptions offer unprecedented opportunities for experiencing authentic, transformational growth.
  3. Disruptions challenge our tendency to drift towards isolation.

Disruptions today came up as bringing opportunities. How do you ensure that disruption does not push you over the edge into the abyss and further from your faith?

good question. for me it has a great deal to do with the state of my heart and life when the disruptions arrive. if i am going through a period of not daily examining my life, not spending regular time with God, or being too busy and stressed to adequately care for myself, then a disruption could very well eject me into a bad place.

not that leading an examined, healthy life totally prevents negative repercussions of life's disruptions, but it does give me an ability to better cope.
